Many of the artists who were working in that period, maybe employing her as a model, are forgotten by name now too.

Only the work and her image live on. Immortalised.

Hardly any people in fact who were alive then, leading ordinary or even slightly unusual lives, are remembered in any way today.

A story like Miss Munsen's is wonderful to read about, and for me, always an opportunity to ponder for a moment on the transience of our lives, and a nudge to be a little more present to today.

I find it interesting too that she publicly asked the question: What becomes of the artists' model? And lived such a long life finding out by living an answer, tragic and no doubt painful for her.
